Digital stroke analysis

Service description

Using multi-angle video capture and frame-by-frame review software, our coaches produce a detailed written and annotated video report covering your forehand, backhand, serve and volley. Sessions are available as a standalone service or as an add-on to any coaching programme. Reports are delivered digitally within 5 business days.

  1. 01

    Who benefits from stroke analysis

Stroke analysis is not reserved for advanced players. Beginners and intermediate players often gain the most from an early, accurate picture of their technique, because correcting a habit at the start is far simpler than relearning it after years of repetition. The written report is in plain language regardless of your level.

More experienced players use analysis to identify the specific mechanical patterns that are limiting their consistency or power — details that are genuinely invisible at match speed but clear in frame-by-frame review. If you have a persistent weakness you cannot seem to fix, this is where the answer usually lives.

  2. 02

How a session works, step by step

You arrive for a 90-minute recording session on court. Coaches set up multi-angle cameras to capture your forehand, backhand, serve and volley from positions that reveal what the naked eye misses during a rally. You hit enough balls in each pattern to give the analysis genuine data rather than a single snapshot.

After the session, the analysing coach works through the footage frame by frame, annotating the key moments in each stroke and writing a prioritised list of correction points. You receive the annotated video file and the written PDF report via a secure download link within five business days.

  3. 03

    What the report contains

The written summary names your strongest technical habits alongside the patterns most worth addressing, ranked by the impact they are likely to have on your game. Prioritisation matters: a report that lists every imperfection is overwhelming; one that tells you where to start is useful.

Alongside the written summary, you receive personalised drill recommendations designed to address the specific patterns identified. These drills can be worked on independently, with a GM Tenis Academy coach or with any other qualified coach — the report and the annotated video belong to you and are written to be understood by any trained eye.

  4. 04

    The follow-up consultation

The Full-game + follow-up option includes a 30-minute consultation with the coach who conducted your analysis. This is not a repeat of the report — it is a conversation. You can ask questions, work through anything that was unclear in the written summary and agree on a practical plan for addressing the priority corrections.

Many players find this session the most valuable part of the process, because it turns a document into a dialogue. Coaches here are direct and specific: you will leave knowing exactly what to work on and why, not with a vague sense that something needs to improve.

  5. 05

    Standalone service or programme add-on

Digital Stroke Analysis is available as a completely standalone service — you do not need to be enrolled in any other GM Tenis Academy programme to book a session. It is also available as an add-on to any coaching programme, which allows your analysis findings to feed directly into your ongoing coaching work.

Players who combine analysis with the High-Performance Junior Programme or with private coaching often find that the two reinforce each other: the analysis identifies the pattern, and the coaching sessions provide the repetition needed to replace it. The choice of how to use the report is entirely yours.

  6. 06

    Preparing for your recording session

Wear your usual court shoes and bring the racquet you play with most often — analysis of your standard equipment gives the most relevant results. Arrive ready to hit at a realistic pace; the goal is to capture your actual game, not a performance for the camera.

If you have a specific stroke or situation you are most concerned about, let the coach know before the session begins. While the full-game option covers all major strokes, knowing your priority helps the coach position cameras and structure the hitting sequence to make sure that area receives the most thorough coverage.

How getting started works

  1. 1

    Initial conversation

Tell us about your goals, experience level and schedule. We listen first and then recommend the programme or combination that makes the most sense for you.

  2. 2

    Court assessment

New players complete a short on-court assessment so we can place you in the right group or design the right private plan. No pressure — it is an information-gathering session, not a test.

  3. 3

    Programme enrolment

We confirm your place in the chosen programme, agree on the schedule and complete registration. You receive a welcome email with everything you need before your first session.

  4. 4

    Training begins

Your first session sets the tone: coaches introduce the block's goals, establish group norms and begin skill work. Parents of juniors are welcome to watch from the designated viewing area.

  5. 5

    Progress review

At the end of each block, players receive a written progress report and a brief coach conversation. We discuss what was achieved, what comes next and whether a programme adjustment is needed.
